What we do
The Vision
Pax Street Community is a ministry that exists to help the homeless and marginalized of Montreal to connect to God (through a relationship with Jesus Christ), to others, and to the world.
We enter into community with the street population in order to respond to their physical, spiritual and emotional needs and to see them grow as individuals. By entering into community we mean going to where the people on the street live, where they hang out, the back alleys where they relax, and the sidewalks, metros, and doorways where they make their money. We share our lives with them, and in return allow them to share their lives with us. In order to better understand our community we learn about, and get involved in the issues that affect their individual and corporate lives .
Connecting to God
Presently we have been realizing this vision by creating relationships with the different people who live on streets of Montreal, becoming a part of their lives and growing to know them for who they are. Spending our time listening to their individual concerns, hopes, and dreams, so that we may help the homeless connect to God through spontaneous bible studies, testimonies and prayers, applying the bible to their daily lives and struggles.
Connecting to Others and the World
We help our friends on the street connect to others by helping them take the steps and gain the skills to interact with others around them. Whether it is accompanying the members of our community for medical care, welfare assistance, or searching for stable housing, we aim to see them grow as people, and take their rightful place in our society. After 17 years of ministry we have not only earned our place within the street community, we are also known and respected by the downtown health and social service network, giving us the opportunity to work with different social workers, police, nurses etc...
We envision our community growing and sharing their gifts and talents with others and the world.
